My child would like some help with an activity that was posted by their teacher. When is support available?
Like many professions right now teachers are working from home. They are available to support students either by email or phone call (in come cases via video chat) from .. 8:30 am – 3:15 pm, Monday to Friday. Please keep in mind that our educators have responsibilities in their own homes with their families and cannot guarantee they will be available to academically support or respond to students outside of the school day.

Can I opt out of the Learn at Home Program?
We have had some inquiries from students and parents asking if the Learn at Home assignments provided by teachers is mandatory. It is an expectation that students engage in the assignments provided by ALL teachers. We know that some students may struggle with some assignments. If this is the case, please contact your child’s teacher. We have supports available to help our students. We also suggest that students work on their assignments during the day as this is when staff are available to help either online or on the phone. Please connect with us, we are here to help.

Is Your Child Struggling?

Students may experience a range of emotions during the COVID-19 situation. As well, changes in routine, including time away from school, may create challenges for some students. We also understand that young people with pre-existing mental health problems may find their symptoms increasing in light of the current uncertainties. Below are some links and resources to help you and your child navigate emotionally through these difficult times. As always please reach out to your child’s teacher or one of our admin team and we can help you find supports as well. Pathstone has confirmed that walk-in services are closed indefinitely and individual therapy sessions are continuing to happen over the phone. They have increased the number of staff on the crisis phone line and are still able to respond to calls immediately, without wait times. For immediate support, parents and students may phone the Pathstone Mental Health Crisis and Support Line at 1-800-263-4944. Support from Kids Help Phone can be accessed by calling 1-800-668-6868, texting CONNECT to 686868, or live chatting at www.kidshelpphone.ca. Here are some helpful resources for parents that can be found on the DSBN website at https://www.dsbn.org/coronavirus-updates/ How can I support myself and my family in coping during COVID-19? 2019-20 BACK TO SCHOOL
STUDENT TRANSPORTATION INFORMATION

On Monday, August 19, 2019 Niagara Student Transportation Services (NSTS) will post specific back to school transportation arrangements for each student enrolled, including bus route numbers, stop locations and times.
Please visit www.nsts.ca and sign-in to the secure parent portal to get your child’s student transportation information. To sign-in to the portal you will need your child’s Ontario Education Number (OEN) which can be found on their report card. While signed-in, please subscribe to the delay and cancellation module for direct and timely emails regarding student transportation that impacts your child’s bus route.
Eligibility information is also available through the portal including walking directions if your child lives within the walk zone of the school and is not eligible for transportation service.
Changes to home, pick-up or drop-off addresses must be made through your child’s school. During the summer you may notify NSTS of address changes so we can make sure a bus stop is available for your child to start the school year, however, NSTS is not authorized to change student address information.
With the availability of the secure parent portal, NSTS will not mail student transportation notices with the exception of Kindergarten students or new students to the system who do not have an OEN to sign-in to the portal.
Please contact your school or NSTS if you have questions regarding your child’s transportation arrangements. Phone: 905 357-6787 Website: www.nsts.ca Email: general@nsts.ca
