Student Lates
Please be aware that due to the change in our Late Slip Process when you bring your student late there may be a lineup and wait for the late slip printer. All parents of kinder students must wait in line with their student until handed to a staff member who will run them to class. With 25 - 75 lates every day there is distruption to many classrooms. Please try to be at the school gates for the bell at 8:40 to avoid these lineups. There is supervision starting at 8:20 am. Breakfast Club at 8:20 am, so your students don't have to be late.
Please be kind and safe and do not park in the Bus Zone on Pleasant Ave! Please do not park in the handicap spots unless you have a permit. Please use the drop off/pick up Zone on Dufferin St. as a safe alternative! Thank you!

About Harriet Tubman Public School
"Every great dream begins with a dreamer . Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars and change the world." ~ Harriet Tubman
In the spring of 2014, the DSBN Accommodation Review Committee recommended the building of a brand new kindergarten to grade 8 school to service the downtown area of St. Catharines.
The new school, to be built on the existing Alexandra School site on Henry Street in St. Catharines will accommodate children from the Maywood, Memorial, Alexandra and Queen Mary school communities. We opened on September 8th, 2015!
The DSBN Naming Committee announced that the new school would be named after famed freedom fighter, Harriet Tubman, who lived on North Street in St. Catharines for 10 years.
Harriet Tubman was important to local, Canadian and American history and has been named 71st on the Top 100 Most Influential Persons list. Recently, she was named as the new face of the US $20 bill. As a conductor on the Underground Railroad, it is believed that Harriet journeyed from Virginia to St. Catharines over 17 times, bringing over 60 slaves to a life of freedom. Moving mainly at night, using the North Star as a compass and relying on safe houses marked with blue quilts, Harriet said, "I never ran my train off the track, and I never lost a passenger."
Future students of Harriet Tubman Public School will develop and exhibit the same character traits demonstrated by Harriet Tubman: courage, selfless, kindness, and perseverance.
We are very proud and excited about our new school!
If you are tired, keep going.
If you are scared, keep going.
If you are hungry, keep going.
If you want to taste freedom, keep going.
~Harriet Tubman
